Take Your Physique to the Next Level with the Power of Emsculpt

With the rise of modern technology has also come the ability to do incredible things in the world of aesthetics, namely in the realm of body contouring without the need to go under the knife.

For example, CoolSculpting uses cutting-edge fat-freezing technology to help you lose inches and minimize bulges of stubborn fat that can’t be melted away with diet or exercise.

(Don’t worry, more insight into the difference between Emsculpt and CoolSculpting in a second.)

(Don’t worry, more insight into the difference between Emsculpt and CoolSculpting in a second.)

And now, we’re able to take body contouring, (or should we say sculpting?) to the next level with Potomac Medical Aesthetics’ latest treatment modality: Emsculpt.

Let’s dive into what this treatment, which is making waves in the aesthetic industry for its high effectiveness and incredible results, is all about:

What Is Emsculpt and How Does It Work?

Emsculpt is an FDA-approved non-invasive treatment that’s the first of its kind aimed at strengthening, toning, and firming muscles using High Intensity Focused Electro Magnetic (HIFEM) technology.

In fact, Emsculpt is the world’s first non-invasive buttock toning procedure.

Using HIFEM, the Emsculpt device induces powerful muscle contractions that can’t be achieved through voluntary contractions performed during every day movement or exercise, and it’s these strong contractions that incite the fibers within muscle tissue to remodel their inner structure.

With pulses that force your muscles to contract about 20,000 times in just 30 minutes, muscle fibers not only restructure and strengthen to create a more sculpted physique, but muscles also release chemicals that trigger the break down of fat cells.

What Areas of the Body Can Emsculpt Be Used On?

Using a paddle-shaped device that can be applied over the top of lightweight clothing or directly on the skin, the Emsculpt is most effective for tightening and firming muscles such as the glutes for a natural non-invasive butt lift, arms (biceps and triceps), legs (thighs, hamstrings, and calves) as well as the abdomen.

For treatment of the abdomen, Emsculpt has also been shown to be highly effective for tightening and minimization of appearance of diastasis recti, which is the separation of abdominal muscles caused by pregnancy.

Overall, seven multi-center studies by the most reputable scientific methods (MRI, CT, US, and Histology) have shown that research participants experienced an average of 16 percent or more increase in muscle mass.

What Does an Emsculpt Treatment Feel Like?

Because your muscles are contracting at a high speed, the feeling of an Emsculpt treatment is definitely different, although not painful.

We’d describe it as an intense vibration or continuous muscle twitch.

And while the feeling of the Emsculpt treatment can be a little strange at first, the resting phase during the treatment (which acts as a period for flushing the treated muscles of lactic acid) allows for breaks from the contractions, and prevents post-treatment muscle soreness.

Post-treatment, (each treatment session lasts an average of 30-minutes with the number of sessions dependent upon your personal goals and consultation recommendations by Dr. Petropoulos), you’ll be right back to your normal routine — no downtime or recovery time whatsoever.

Am I a Good Candidate for Receiving an Emsculpt Treatment?

There are a number of factors to consider with ideal candidacy for receiving Emsculpt, and the only way to give a definitive answer is to schedule a consultation with us at Potomac Medical Aesthetics so we can evaluate your health history and your personal health and aesthetic goals.

One thing to keep in mind is that Emsculpt is not a replacement for exercise, but rather a super-powered supplement to a regular exercise regimen. Emsculpt patients who see and experience their ideal results are typically those who were/are closest to their overall goal weight, but want greater toning and definition.

Furthermore, with the strengthened muscles achieved through Emsculpt, it’s in our patient’s best interest to continue with a consistent exercise regimen to continue seeing additional beneficial results attributed to Emsculpt.

When Can I Expect To See Results?

You’ll feel firmness before you see sculpting, however, visible results are typically seen between 2 to 4 weeks after your last Emsculpt treatment session in your series.

Your visible results will also continue to improve in the months following treatment, especially if a healthy lifestyle is consistently adhered to.

What’s the Difference Between Emsculpt and Coolsculpting?

While Emsculpt works to strengthen and tighten muscles via High Intensity Focused Electro Magnetic (HIFEM) technology, which subsequently also burns fat, CoolSculpting works via the cryolipolysis, which is the reduction of fat cells by freezing. Coolsculpting does not affect muscle firmness or sculpting, however, the reduction of surrounding fat does allow for more visible muscle definition.

Overall, one treatment is not *better* than the other, rather, one treatment might be a better fit for you and your goals.

At Potomac Medical Aesthetics, our top-line priority is providing the best treatment for each individual patient, which means that no two recommendations or treatment plans are exactly alike.
